Director's Statement
For many American Jews, support for Israel has become the core of what makes us Jewish. From the Israeli flag in Synagogues, to Birthright Israel, to American Jews joining the Israeli military, American Jewish identity has come to depend on Israel to engage young Jews and keep them connected to Judaism. By exploring the ways in which Israel for decades unified American Jews, as well as how Israel now divides American Jews, our film explores the American Jewish experience from a whole new lens that will help American Jews reconsider what it means to be Jewish in this time.
