This film is family friendly.

Space, Hope and Charity is the deeply personal story of Charity Woodrum, a University of Arizona PhD candidate who overcame childhood poverty and later unfathomable tragedy while pursuing her dream of becoming an astrophysicist. Charity was the first in her family to graduate from high school, married and a new mom when she returned to school to study astrophysics. She earned a NASA internship and her life seemed perfect. Then, life as she knew it ended. Charity’s husband and son died in a flash. Charity finds her way back from the edge with help from old friends and perfect strangers.

Director's Statement

I've always been struck by stories of ordinary people overcoming extraordinary circumstances, inspiring audiences to strive to be their best selves. When I heard about Charity's remarkable life story, I was determined to share her story with the world. Fortunately, in spite of all she had been through, she decided, in time, to trust me. What resulted is a deeply personal film that explores the very human themes of poverty, family dysfunction, finding purpose after tragedy, and the power of human connection. At a time when the world feels like it’s off its axis, Charity’s story is one of hope.
