Hymn Of The Suns

Ryan Nah
Hong Kong, 2024, 9 min.

In English.
Includes violence and adult language.

Set within a surreal modern dystopia, a young man seems to take pride in the sun. What other obligations does he have?

Director's Statement

The film took two months to write and a week to shoot. Post-production only took five overworking days, which included editing, ADR, sound, and music. Amidst the fact that I have zero crew involved other than myself, all the camera tracking work were done by me. Tracking shots were often shot using a Bluetooth gimbal, where my phone was then used to track & record camera movements. The film is about the sun itself, and therefore symbolises the things involving it. It also addresses themes of global warming and the everyday uses that take advantage of solar energy.
