Director's Statement

This film was something of an artistic experiment. I wanted to try advancing the landscape of how women are perceived in the action genre. I wanted to place two strong and capable women at the forefront of this story, featuring them not just as brutal fighters but also heartfelt lovers. In doing so, my attempt was to inject the genre with a feminist and LGBT message to create a unique action film that's just as violent as it is emotional and thought provoking. I'm inspired by character driven action films that aren't afraid to embrace femininity and vulnerability, so this was my experimentation with blurring the lines of genre and showing that women deserve more credit as badass heroines.
