Tucson Hot Damn

Jefferson Moneo
Canada, 2017, 18 min.

A magical ride through "The Weird Capital of the World" featuring the music of Billy Sedlmayr, Brian Lopez and Gabriel Sullivan.

Director's Statement

For the past decade, I've been making the pilgrimage to Tucson for the Arizona International Film Festival. There's a reason I keep coming back. Over the years, I've met artists, musicians, dancers, acrobats, iconoclasts, outlaws, and a whole host of beautiful freaks on the margins. Last year I tried to make a film about some of them. Rather than merely show the results of that effort, I decided to bring these people together for one singular evening of art + film + performance -- THE TUCSON HAPPENING. So strap in ladies and gentlemen... we're going to take you down the rabbit hole into the wild and magical side of the place you call home.
