Evie
Mike Peebler
United States, 2019, 11 min.
In English.
Facing either the wrath of her parents or a forced marriage to a man more than twice her age, fifteen year old Evie makes an impossible choice.
Director's Statement
Child marriage is a problem that most people don't realize exists in America to this day. Evie illustrates the horrors of child marriage and gives us a glimpse into the experience of what this might be like for a young girl to endure. We hope that this film contributes to a rising awareness of this issue and hopefully legislation in all 50 states setting the legal age for marriage at 18 with no exceptions"”the only reasonable standard for such a life altering decision.
