United States, 2019, 23 min.

In English & Spanish with English subtitles.
Includes violence.

AIFF Award Winner:
Best of Arizona

A pro bono lawyer and her client Soledad fight for Soledad's right to asylum just as the Trump Administration changes the rules for asylum seekers.  This film weaves live action and animation to tell the story of a courageous young woman from Central America who fled gang violence and sought asylum in the U.S., and shows what life is like for those imprisoned in the Eloy Detention Center while they await their day in court.

Director's Statement

It was such a pleasure to work with so many talented and powerful women on this film. Aside from working with my usual male music composer and sound mixer, this is a film made by and about women, many of them immigrants or children of immigrants. Even the animator Marta Lemos who resides in the UK is the daughter of an immigrant from Africa which made this story especially important for her. We look forward to bringing this story to the Arizona International Film Festival.
