Unforgotten
Sujin Kim
South Korea, 2021, 8 min.
In Korean with English subtitles.

In World War II, four innocent girls were forced to leave their hometowns to Comfort Stations. Half a century later, the survivors decided to speak to the world about atrocious wartime sexual violence that they experienced in Comfort Stations. The film is about their lifelong traumas and will to fight.
Director's Statement
Unforgotten is an experimental 3D animation that weaves together the testimonies of four late Korean women who were forced into sexual slavery by the Japanese Imperial military during World War II. The animation shines a light on the victims' voices through poetic animated scenes so as not to perpetuate violent imagery and reduce the power that the victims retain over their own stories.
