Director's Statement
El Tesoro, featuring a captivating performance by Academy Award nominee actress Adriana Barraza, was filmed in 2022 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, near Tlajomulco de Zúñiga, where the largest clandestine grave in Mexico, containing 104 bodies, was discovered. The fact that El Tesoro was shot in this specific region of Mexico and received financing and support from CM Films, a Jalisco-based company, serves as a powerful testament to our determination to narrate our own stories and find healing in the process. It underscores the idea that we don't require external voices to share our poignant narratives.
