Sally, Get the Potatoes

Danicah Waldo
United States, 2024, 17 min.

In English.

AIFF Award Winner:
Jury Award for Creative Achievement

A little girl's innocence is shattered when she takes an unexpected ride in her wealthy family's rolling laundry cart and learns their dark secrets.

Director's Statement

There’s a great New Yorker cartoon circulating. It pictures a fully grown adult laying on a couch in a therapist’s office. The caption reads something like, “I’ve been having a rough childhood lately.” Sally, Get the Potatoes is an exploration of the grey area in between adolescence and adulthood. The isolation of innocence, and the isolation of knowledge. I hope you are deeply moved by this riveting breakout performance from Kynlee Heiman. I hope the story sparks reflection, empathy, and conversation. We deserve to talk. We deserve to stop hiding in the laundry basket.

Category: Drama, Short, Award Winner.
