Kelly Campbell
		    Ireland, 2021, 20 min.
        In English with English subtitles.
Two improbable friends dodge school and wander freely through Dublin until an encounter with a stranger leaves one of them utterly changed.
Director's Statement
An Encounter is a portrayal of adolescent discovery. Children test themselves against the world in order to grow; it requires a sense of invincibility to leap into the unknown. It is often on this path to freedom that certain rites must be undertaken furtively. Where adults can change their circumstances; children cannot. Children are powerless, and in difficult situations they are the victims of every sorrow, mischance and rage around them. Children feel all of these things but without any of the ability that adults have to change them. In some instances, false courage can lead to tragedy.
