Pirsch
Noah van Dok
Switzerland, 2023, 8 min.
In Swiss German with English subtitles.
A hunter discovers mounted signs in her area that sue hunters as murderers. When she confronts the anti-hunt activist she realizes that they are not to be convinced with reason and that she needs to take more drastic measures.
Director's Statement
Hunting is a necessary measure to preserve the natural environment by controlling the animal population. Nevertheless, it is designed and organized by humans and therefore also serves a human interest. On the other hand, anti-hunting activists are driven by a deeply pacifistic mindset to leave nature entirely alone. For them, armed humans to protect nature is a contradiction. What I want to point out with the film Pirsch is, that these two understandings of environmental protection are completely incompatible.
