Zach, a struggling motorcycle shop owner, receives an unexpected package from his estranged father—a man obsessed with the family’s hidden gold. The package contains a weathered journal detailing the location of the infamous iron door, a letter written before his father’s death, and a old gold ring—an heirloom said to be cursed by a desert bruja. Driven by obsession and a desire to reclaim his family legacy, Zach convinces his best friend and girlfriend Layla to join him on a motorcycle trip into the desert to uncover the truth. The Iron Door is a chilling, supernatural thriller inspired by real desert folklore. It explores the weight of generational trauma, the danger of buried secrets, and the terrifying power of a promise never broken.
Director's Statement
Inspired by true events. The Iron Door is a real place hidden deep in the Yucca Valley, California — a mysterious site that still draws hikers and treasure hunters searching for its secrets. It’s hard to find, almost mythic, and that’s part of its power. In the 1920s, one of the desert’s most successful gold miners, Johnny Lang, struck fortune in the hills. But his legacy turned dark. His son reportedly suffered mercury poisoning from the mine — an illness that drove him into madness and violence. This film imagines a modern descendant — Johnny’s great-grandson — returning to the desert with his best friend to uncover what really happened to Johnny’s son and the family’s lost fortune. What begins as a search for gold becomes a descent into obsession, history, and inherited darkness. At its core, The Iron Door is about the things buried beneath us — the sins, the greed, and the ghosts we inherit. The desert doesn’t forget, and neither does blood. — Garrett Patten,
