Without a Doubt - Trailer from Gerald Guthrie on Vimeo.
Without a Doubt is a digital animation that illustrates one variation on the 17th century philosopher Rene Descartes' view of the world. This time-based visual metaphor draws together Descartes' understanding of geometry, expressly the invention of the Cartesian co-ordinates (X, Y, Z), and his most famous statement, 'I think, therefore I am,' to present an introspective dimension within our own understanding.
Director's Statement
'Without a Doubt' centers on the notion that humans mentally and physically construct subjective versions of the world they inhabit. A "neutral" physical world existed through the eons before humans appeared with their unique brand of interpretation and consciousness. Since that time, we have altered our physical environments, as well as our belief systems, based on a balance of rationality and spirituality.
