A Fermented Tragicomic Western set in the Faroe Islands in 1898. In a lone valley there lived three brothers. Following the death of the eldest, the other two struggle with their different ways of grieving and surviving in the harsh landscape acting as a backdrop in a timeless story of brothers with opposite views on religion, duty and family.

Director's Statement

Trøllabeiggi, is a period film set in the late 19’th century. Life in the Faroe Islands was hard. Isolated in the cold and stormy North Atlantic our ancestors learned to live of what the sea and inhospitable mountains could provide. Religion played a huge part in people’s lives, so this in part moved me to create this fable (or religious parable one might argue) based on true events. My style is inspired by the genres and filmmakers I hold close at heart - the western, the samurai film, as well as the unique Nordic sensibilities of the masters of Scandinavian cinema. Through this I am probing new ways to create something that is uniquely Faroese, that reveals our humor, our sensibilities and humanity, our way of life and our way of looking at the world.
